Accounts Assistant



Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Salary: £21 000 – £23 000 with pension

Christian Witness to Israel (CWI) is a UK-based interdenominational evangelistic mission with the aim of sharing the gospel among the Jewish people. With workers in the UK, Europe, Israel, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North America, CWI exists to tell Jewish people about Jesus.

The CWI Finance and Operations department operates within a fast-paced environment and, due to an ongoing time of transition, has a developing set of responsibilities. We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to work as part of the team responsible for providing first-rate financial and operational services to meet the needs of staff and stakeholders across the organisation. This role will support the Finance and Operations team with the accurate and timely recording and retrieving of financial transactions and data. This includes the effective handling of supporter and missionary queries, in addition to providing operational support.

This is an outward facing role and a primary point of contact for donors and supporters of the Organisation. It is therefore essential that the post holder is a committed Christian who personally subscribes to the Organisation’s statement of faith, and who fully supports its mission objectives. It is an occupational requirement for the holder of this post to be a Christian.

As you will often be the first point of contact on the phone, you will also have an excellent phone manner and be able to represent and explain the Organisation’s mission objectives to callers. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative with a positive proactive attitude.

You will also have a high degree of professionalism to handle sensitive and confidential information. You will have a “can-do” attitude and be easy to work with.


What are we looking for?

Essentially, you will ideally be AAT qualified, with proven experience relevant to the role, as well as having a good working knowledge of MS Excel and computerised accounting systems.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and work in a flexible and reliable manner.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

This is a fulltime office based post located in Eynsham, Oxfordshire.
